Minimum Requirements:
A Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from a regionally accredited institution is required; a Master’s degree is preferred. A minimum of four years of experience in law enforcement and two years of teaching experience, plus NC Criminal Justice General Instructor certification and at least one NC Criminal Justice Specialized Instructor certification required. Must hold a current North Carolina Law Enforcement Certification. This position requires knowledge of and experience in the Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) and law enforcement certification process, excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Must have the ability to work nights and weekends. Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
Position Duties:
Under the directions of the Certified Law Enforcement School Director, the coordinator is responsible for supervising
and evaluating law enforcement instructors in the (BLET) program. This person will assist the Dean of Public Safety in duties related to law enforcement training to include BLET in-Service Training. Teaching in the two-year Criminal Justice curriculum may be required. Maintain accurate and precise records in accordance with NC Criminal Justice Training and Standards Commission, maintain all equipment, including but not limited to, vehicles and other training materials, necessary for functional operation of the BLET program, assist in recruiting future cadets for upcoming BLET classes, and maintain a working relationship with area Law Enforcement.
