JOB SUMMARY
Supports the Admissions office as a Designated School Official (DSO) by preparing SEVIS I-20 Forms for prospective students and maintains international student records to meet compliance standards for the U.

S Immigration and Naturalization Service.

Addresses the special needs of new students by providing College advising, scheduling of classes, aiding students through the enrollment processes and guiding applicants to any of the various support services.

Maintains confidentiality with protected information under FERPA and HIPAA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Serve as a DSO and interviews international students, or family members, to assess their needs for issuance of SEVIS I-20 Forms for admissions, transfer or change of status.

Serve and advise international students on various standard issues impacting them, such as personal, financial needs, academic issues, immigration, health insurance and health care, travel, taxes and financial aid such as loans, grants or scholarships.

Monitor all College International Student SEVIS Activities Programs, which includes audits and status alerts (CPT, OPT, etc. serves as liaison between the HCC, federal and state agencies.

Check prospective student’s documents to determine eligibility to receive a Student Visa according to the U.

S.

Immigration & Custom Enforcement policies and procedures.

Check and image documentation for all incoming international students, complete student file and assist with testing and registration information at various campuses.

Maintain a current filing system for currently-enrolled international students; update each semester to ensure each file is complete and ready for audit.

Monitor international student progress each semester to ensure compliance with the U.

S.

Immigration & Custom Enforcement.

Monitor and process the import and export of student records to SEVIS from the information management system twice each day.

Responsible for monitoring and maintaining informational packets for international students.

Coordinate with various departments System wide and provide services to students, staff and faculty.

Prepare reinstatement, change of status, work authorization and optional practical training documents to request action by different entities under Department of Homeland Security.

Perform on-going reviews of compliance and regulations mandated by the Department of Homeland Security governing non-immigrant students in order to ensure continued Student Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) compliance with international student’s record.

Maintain data integrity for the Department.

Provide academic and immigration advising to prospective and current international students.

Guide students in the awareness and planning of their post-secondary school curriculum including the selection of the courses and programs of study.

Assist with the planning and facilitation of international student programs such as orientation, workshops, new student check in, international education week, and seminars.

Comprehend and communicate technical information effectively and diplomatically.

Assist with continuous improvement efforts in the Office regarding recruitment and retention of students and professional development for staff.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field is required
  • 2 years’ work experience in post-secondary institution, including 1 year SEVIS experience; some experience in the following areas:
  • Experience with program development, Academic or related services, providing services for people of diverse cultural backgrounds, experiences, and ages is preferred

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
