Job Summary

The Post-Doctoral Writing fellow will be responsible for coordinating writing support for graduate students at the masters and doctoral level. Additionally, developing a training curriculum for graduate writing fellows. Supervising 2-3 graduate writing fellows, this team will provide writing resources, one-on-one appointments, and writing workshops. To maintain funding after the post-doctoral fellow appointment, as well as additional financial resources for writing support, grants will need to be obtained. There may also be opportunities to help with faculty mentorship of students, faculty writing support, and teaching undergraduate/graduate courses in the post-doctoral fellow’s area of expertise.

Additional Information

This is a non-continuous position. The initial appointment will end on July 31, 2025. Appointment renewal for the following year will be based upon available funding and performance. Subsequent appointments will be July 1 – June 30.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$50,000 annual plus an excellent benefits package

Required Qualifications

1. Doctoral degree in any of the following fields: writing instruction, writing program administration, writing center leadership, writing across the curriculum, writing studies, curriculum and instruction, or related fields. People with an ABD will be considered, but doctoral degree will need to be complete by July 31, 2024.
2. Evidence of strong research skills (e.g., published work, training, mentorship).
3. Strong task management skills (e.g., deconstructing complex tasks, organizing and prioritizing tasks, and meeting deadlines).
4. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
5. Experience managing individuals, small teams, or complex projects.
6. Experience working with non-native English writers and diverse populations.
7. Experience developing writing mentorship programs, professional development workshops, and writing resources for in-person and virtual formats.
8. Experience using data to make decision on services and resources
9. Experience with citation management styles i.e. APA, MLA, Chicago style

Preferred Qualifications

1. College Reading and Learning Association Certificate
2. Experience teaching in Higher Education
3. Experience writing and receiving external grants
4. A publication record in any of the following fields: writing pedagogy, writing across the curriculum, writing for graduate students, writing support for non-native English writers.
5. Experience using and creating content with learning management systems such as WordPress, Pressbooks, and Canvas.
6. Experience working on interdisciplinary teams.

Work Hours

Generally Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm with occasional weekend and evening hours as business needs dictate. Potential for some remote work.

Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:

2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
