Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

Reporting to the Director and Title IX Coordinator of the Office of Civil Rights and Sexual Misconduct (OCRSM), the EEO/Title IX Intake Coordinator will coordinate the office’s complaint intake function by conducting intake and assessment into a wide range of incoming discrimination, harassment and Title IX complaints submitted by University students and/or employees. The primary responsibility for this position is to triage reports of alleged sexual misconduct and discrimination under Title IX and other non-discrimination laws, as defined by University policies. The Coordinator will acknowledge complaints and provide the initial response to complainants; conduct other preliminary fact-finding as required to assess the allegations under applicable university policies and procedures; schedule and perform intake interviews; interpret and/or advise complainants of university policy; provide referrals and resources to individuals affected by sexual misconduct and other forms of discrimination; and propose Title IX interim safety and welfare measures as needed for sexual violence and harassment complaints under University Policy and Title IX and submit for Title IX Coordinator approval. The Coordinator will work closely with the Director to coordinate the disposition and transfer of cases to OCRSM investigators to adequately resource complaints.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Experience:
  • Two years of experience in interviewing complainants, preferably using trauma informed techniques, or crisis counseling experience.
  • Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office applications and document sharing tools.
  • Experience to communicate effectively, verbally and written, with the ability to handle difficult or sensitive situations diplomatically.
  • Experience working in an environment of strict confidentiality with sensitive information, materials and/or client interactions.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated ability to present information in a clear and concise manner, both in writing and verbally.
  • Familiarity with of state and federal compliance policies and laws related to discrimination, harassment, hate/bias and sexual violence.
  • Demonstrated interest in nondiscrimination compliance and related issues.
  • Demonstrated skill in exercising professional judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with sensitive matters and/or people in distress.
  • Demonstrated experience working successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.

Preferences:

Preferences:
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology or related area.
  • Completion or certifications of Title IX or EEO training.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
  • Experience with Maxient or other case management systems.
  • Knowledge of socioeconomic and organizational issues underlying and resulting from sexual harassment, discrimination and sexual violence.
  • Experience in working in an institution of higher education.
  • Familiarity with University ethics and compliance policies, procedures and programs, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Knowledge of complexities in assessing discrimination and sexual misconduct complaints.
  • Ability to identify and implement best practices related to responding to reports of discrimination and harassment.

Physical Demands

Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary. Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment. Will require travel to campus meetings and ability to transport supplies and meeting materials.
