The Goodwill Excel Center for Adults opened in 2014 as an open-enrollment public charter high school for adults ages 18 to 50. POSITION SUMMARY: The College & Career Coordinator (CCC) is responsible for the development and implementation of comprehensive programs and services that support students in their college and career exploration, planning, and transition. This position will coordinate, promote, and support college and career pathways at the assigned campus(es). The CCC will ensure that the campus is offering the minimum number of career pathways and dual-credit opportunities for students. This position will work closely with the District College & Careers Team to establish and maintain business and educational partnerships that will support educational and employment opportunities for students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement a comprehensive college and career readiness program tailored to meet the unique needs of adult students, in collaboration with the District College & Careers Team.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with colleges, universities, trade schools, employers, community organizations, and other stakeholders to create internship opportunities, secure guest speakers, and leverage resources for student success.
  • Collaborate with external partners to develop articulation agreements and dual enrollment options for adult learners, in partnership with the District College & Career Team.
  • Facilitate workshops, career fairs, guest speaker sessions, and college visits to expose students to a wide range of post-secondary education and career opportunities.
  • Coordinate the delivery of workshops and orientations to equip students with essential college success skills, such as time management, study strategies, and campus resources utilization.
  • Conduct research-based activities to gather quantitative and qualitative data around student experience (e.g. surveys, focus groups).
  • Facilitate research surveys with students to obtain outcome data, feedback, and key metrics at designated intervals, including wage gain, certification attainment, and college credit.
  • Document student testimonials and success stories and share with Data Team.
  • Support sustained student connection to and engagement following graduation.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Cooperate with the Data Team to collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness of college and career programs, identify areas for improvement, and generate reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Assist with the planning and development of annual graduation activities, ceremony, and corresponding alumni involvement.
  • Stay updated on current trends, best practices, and policies in college admissions, career development, and adult education through professional development opportunities, conferences, and networking with colleagues in the field.
  • Flexibility to support students in the evenings.
  • Foster collegiality and team building among teams by:

o Encouraging active involvement in the decision-making process by all team members;

o Communicating expectations for high-level performance to staff and hold them accountable to identified goals;

o Recognizing staff achievements;

o Ensuring effective and quick resolution of conflicts among team members.

  • Promote positive and effective communication and collaboration among team members to enhance service delivery, program development, and student and staff satisfaction.
  • Comply with policies established by federal and state law, including, but not limited to, State Board of Education and local Board policy.
  • Assist district and campus teams with outreach and engagement events throughout the school year (periodically at nights and on weekends).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: This position supervises the College & Career Navigator.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Two years’ experience in college & career counseling, advising, or coordination, preferably with adult learners.
  • Knowledge of college admissions processes, financial aid programs, and career development resources.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse student populations.
  • Proficiency in using technology tools and platforms relevant to college and career counseling.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities to coordinate multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting adult learners in achieving their educational and career goals.
  • Ability to oversee, coordinate, and influence team members and processes in a proactive and strength-focused manner and evoke mission-focused change.
  • Strong sense of professionalism, administrative ability, systemic understanding of student dynamics and socioemotional approaches, and effective communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Superior leadership, supervisory, organizational, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to handle multiple tasks or crisis situations effectively.
  • Possess understanding of marginalization and how it impacts those Goodwill serves and employs; Exhibit respect for diversity of thought and have experience to advance it in teams/organization.
  • A valid Texas driver’s license is required. This position will require periodic travel to campus and district locations across Texas.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years’ experience in college & career counseling, advising, or coordination, preferably with adult learners.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and/or Arabic.

COMPENSATION & SCHEDULE:

  • Based on experience and qualifications.
  • This is a 12-month position.
