Founded in 2014, the Keough School builds on the strengths of nine institutes and centers focused on international research, scholarship, and education at Notre Dame.

The Keough School of Global Affairs seeks a web and digital content specialist who can lead web strategy and management for the Keough School of Global Affairs, including the nine institutes and centers that make up the school. This position is a conduit for which the Keough School’s key messages reach audiences online, working to ensure that school’s websites have dynamic, up-to-date, and consistently evolving content that is well-presented, technically accurate, appeals to target audiences, and serves the strategy and tactics of the Keough School’s communication goals. The web and digital content specialist will work within the Notre Dame content management system (CMS) to manage content for the Keough School’s main website and its nine institute and center sites. This includes publishing content online and making updates to web pages in a timely manner, presenting content in compelling formats with engaging visuals, and distributing content in ways that maximize circulation and engagement.

The Web and Digital Content Specialist reports to the Keough school’s Director of Communications and Marketing and works closely with the director to develop plans and strategies for communicating the school’s priority messages to audiences online. This position must possess a strong foundation in user experience and website management to create and manage new and existing content, databases, and assets both on the Keough School website and its nine institutes and centers.

Key Responsibilities:

Web Editor – Maintain keough.nd.edu, and its nine institute and center sites, to ensure the websites are dynamic, up to date, and consistently evolving in line with the Keough School’s priorities and the industry’s best practices. These duties include: regular updates to web pages; publishing event listings and stories; managing and uploading assets in adherence to University guidelines; and planning larger changes and reorganizations as necessary. Work with the director to establish and implement content strategies and priorities for the development and enhancement of the Keough School websites based on the schools communications and marketing goals. Provide support, feedback, tips and tricks, best practices, and new CMS features to institute and center communicators. Manage school-wide web governance tools. Work closely with the marketing analytics program manager to monitor and review analytics for all school websites.

Web Design – This position will manage website redesign and upgrade projects, with a strong focus on the development of information architecture, for the primary Keough School website and its nine institutes and centers. This position will also serve as the point of contact for institute communicators on issues related to site design improvements, content creation, and technical troubleshooting. The program manager will handle day-to-day project management for all website development projects, including oversight of website design and development work performed by the University’s central web team.

Strategy – Work with the Keough School’s director of 20 communications and marketing to establish priorities for the development and enhancement of Keough School websites based on the school’s communications and marketing goals. This position will also work closely with the school’s marketing analytics program manager and visual brand manager to ensure sites are within Notre Dame brand standards and to utilize data and analytics to inform web design.

Best practices -Research and implement best practices regarding web design and digital content, including working closely with colleagues in the Notre Dame Creative web team and Office of Information Technology, to stay current on best practices in web development, digital content creation, marketing strategies, and other tools

After 6 months, this position is eligible to participate in the Keough School’s hybrid work policy which currently includes 1 remote day per week during the academic year and 2 days per week during the summer break.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree
2+ Years Experience
  • Experience in web design and content creation.
  • Hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and RWD.
  • Strong typography, color, and layout skills Strong understanding of branding
  • Experience with mobile design and wireframing
  • Commitment to web best practices
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously with careful attention to detail.
  • Strong accountability and ability to work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Some project management experience preferred.
  • Professional demeanor and ability to interact with faculty, staff, and visitors in a variety of disciplines.
  • Willingness to learn about and work effectively within Notre Dame’s wider network of communicators.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with a web management system such as WordPress, SquareSpace, Wix
