Material Analyst

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for analysis of current and projected material requirements to support construction demand company wide. Establish requisition quantities that will support construction, maintain inventory turns, and control inventory costs. Authorize, monitor, control and update the system for material issues. Prepare and monitor material transfers. Assist with the development of procedures and performance measures used for continuous process improvements, which will reduce material costs and improve efficiencies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES

  • Cut requisitions and manage safety stock for the assigned commodity.
  • Analyze material requirements vs. inventory and purchase orders to ensure material will be available when needed.
  • Perform material transfers.
  • Process lost and damaged material paperwork.
  • Generate reports and Production Summaries.
  • Other responsibilities and duties as assigned.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school graduate, plus two (2) years of directly related Materials analysis experience.
  • Working knowledge of material requirements planning (MRP) systems.
  • Reports to the Supervisor of Material Control.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Work primarily conducted in an office setting with good lighting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Must be physically able to commute to buildings throughout the shipyard. Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.

Payscale: $45,600 - $67,500
