Job Description

Core Duties:

* Perform a full range of Acupuncturist duties in accordance with state licensure. All services performed shall fallwithin those guidelines established by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and the policies and procedures of the MTF.

* Confer with patients and take a case history to determine overall mental, physical, and emotional health.

* Keep accurate patient records. Obtain written concurrence for diagnostic and therapeutic acupuncture plans from supervising privileged provider, including medical note co-signature.

* Participate in a multidisciplinary team with other health care providers and providing consultative servicespursuant to optimal health care delivery to patients suffering from pain.

* Work with physicians in a multidisciplinary team to provide drug therapy recommendations, perform polypharmacy management, and provide patient education regarding changes in drug therapy.

* Participate in an on-site designated Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO) tele-mentoring training program.

* Participate in tele-mentoring, tele-medicine, and tele-consults. Maintain a level of productivity comparable with that of other individuals performing similar services.

* Participate in peer review and performance improvement activities.

* Practice aseptic techniques as necessary. Comply with infection control guidelines to include the proper handling, storage, and disposal of infectious wastes, and the use of universal precautions to prevent the spread of infection.

* Function with an awareness and application of safety procedures.

* Perform efficiently in emergency patient situations following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons, and documenting events. Anticipate potential problems/emergencies and make appropriate interventions. Notify supervisor, director, or other designated person regarding problems that the HCW is unable to manage.

Minimum Qualifications:

* Degree: Be a graduate from an Oriental Medicine degree program or higher degree program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (ACAOM).

* Education: Possess a current active certification of Diplomate of Acupuncture status from the Active National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM).

* Experience: Possess at least two years of experience as a full-time Acupuncturist within the preceding five years.

* Must meet BLS requirements per section

* Possess and maintain an active, valid, unrestricted license to practice Acupuncture in any one of the 50 States, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.
