Research Program Coordinator

Job Description

The Division of Emergency Department in the Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Research Program Coordinator (RPC) who will primarily assist with the day-to-day tasks of a new clinical study in the department. This study focuses on developing a machine learning algorithm by using current technology in clinical diagnosis. Responsibilities for this RPC position include screening for eligibility, randomizing patients, communicating with families and other clinicians and the principal investigator, daily maintenance of the enrollment and data, and Redcap maintenance. This successful candidate will be in frequent communication with the principal investigator including bi-weekly research meetings.


Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and implement recruitment of study participants who are eligible to participate in the clinical research.
  • Participate in running the testing of research participants.
  • Oversee day-to-day coordination and data collection for research studies in support of a Principal Investigator (PI).
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned research protocols and reporting requirements.
  • Collect data from patient medical records (if applicable), prepare and code data entry, and maintain computer databases as well as take images and record videos from study participants.
  • Maintain subject database and organize research study data (e.g. REDCap).
  • Maintain IRB documents, including consent forms for all research participants.
  • Interact with research participants as well as other physicians via phone interviews.
  • Work closely with the principal investigator and other members of the team.
  • Attend bi-weekly research meetings.
  • Provide support for other research studies.
  • Other research duties assigned by PI.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a research team.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Positive interpersonal skills to interact with research participants (infants and young children) and their families.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment.
  • Detail-oriented and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel), REDCap, EMR, and other web content management software and cloud databases.
  • Independent and self-motivated, needing little to no supervision.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in clinical research preferred.
  • Organizational qualities. Flexible availability (some weekdays, evenings, or weekends).

 


 

Classified Title: Research Program Coordinator   
Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD  
Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($45,700 targeted; Commensurate with experience) 
Employee group: Full Time 
Schedule: Monday - Friday 9am -5pm. Occasional weekends. The position is for 12 months. 
Exempt Status: Non-Exempt
