About the Department

The Center for Family and Community Engagement is a public service and research center at North Carolina State University. The center fosters family-community-academic partnerships that are relevant and responsive to families and communities. The center builds these partnerships by supporting community engagement, offering training and technical assistance, and providing evaluation and research services. The center works with interdisciplinary partners on the local, national, and global levels to improve family and community health and well-being. The Center has a total annual operating budget of approximately $3.8 million.

Essential Job Duties

The CFACE Program Associate coordinates the day-to-day functions of the Center for Family and Community Engagement by communicating and interpreting policy and procedures. Additionally this role provides customer service to internal and external colleagues; maintains business accounts (HR and Financial) and records. You get the opportunity to assist with center-related community engagement activities, as directed by the CHASS Executive Director for Extension & Engagement and CFACE Director (EDEE).

Below are a few key areas in which you will provide support in this role. These responsibilities are not an exhaustive list. 

Financial Management: Manage the center’s budget, track spending, and process invoices. Keep financial records up-to-date, approve travel reimbursements, and handle purchasing.
HR Support: Coordinate personnel actions, including onboarding and off-boarding, maintaining personnel files, and overseeing timekeeping for biweekly payroll.
Day-to-Day Operations: Organize meetings, keep records, handle facility requests, and assist with IT, telephone, and other admin tasks.
Community Engagement: Support the center’s outreach by maintaining the social media presence and website, and collaborating with stakeholders to further the center’s goals.

Minimum Experience/Education

Bachelor’s degree; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
 
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Other Required Qualifications

  • Experience in managing budgets and monitoring accounts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and Google Suite; willingness to learn new software.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines. 
  • Clear and effective communication, both written and verbal, including professional email and phone etiquette.
  • Collaborative approach to working with a variety of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community members.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Generalist HR experience
  • Familiarity with NC State programs such as WolfTime, Job Action Requests, PeopleSoft HR or similar enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with qualitative/quantitative research methods and ability to conduct basic literature reviews on relevant topics
  • Proficient in social media communications for posting updates
  • Basic understanding of grant funding and administration
