JOB TITLE: COLLEGE NAVIGATOR DEPARTMENT: STUDENT SUCCESS

SALARY RANGE: $43,888 FLSA: EXEMPT


 

IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Success

SCHEDULE DETAILS: Full-time (Office hours are 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Flexibility to work any shift within these hours is required. Occasional evening and weekend work is also required.)/12 month position/PEERS


 

Position Summary

The College Navigator is a student-centered, data-informed proactive case manager that helps students from registration to graduation. Performance will be evaluated by monthly tracking of metrics related to key performance indicators (KPI). College Navigators work to ensure student success in achieving educational and career goals through proactive regular, sustained contact with assigned students, utilizing data to anticipate and respond to student needs, and connecting students with both academic and non-academic resources personalized for student needs. College Navigators will function as an integral part of the Student Success division at OTC, and work in concert with other Student Success staff throughout the college system to help achieve singularity of mission, consistency of student experience, and overall institutional success.


 

Essential Job Duties

  • Provide proactive, holistic, case-management to students to increase course completion, retention, and completion rates.
  • Facilitate student completion of career, financial, and academic plans.
  • Exist as the first and primary point of contact at OTC for a cohort of students.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community agencies to assist students in achieving personal, career, and academic goals.
  • Oversee analytics and data management related to student case load key performance indicators.
  • Connect students to needed resources, both internal and external, academic and non-academic.
  • Build relationships with students, faculty, and staff in support of the student success program.
  • Understand the functions of various offices and connect students with the right people to assist them.
  • Meet with assigned students on a regular basis throughout each semester.
  • Exhibit exemplary attendance and punctuality.
  • Comply with college policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including attending college functions, serving on committees and attending community events.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Two years of work experience in case management, advising, or a relevant experience.
  • Ability to transition between interpersonal skills and data management quickly and often.
  • Exhibit excellent organizational and relational skills.
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer operations, and the ability to learn and adapt to new software and tracking tools.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via email, phone, video chat, text messaging, and public speaking.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to use information technology for professional productivity (such as Microsoft Office Suite).

 

Preferred Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning.
  • Experience in advising students postsecondary education.
  • Experience with financial aid or career planning.
  • Professional experience in personal and/or career counseling.
  • Outgoing and engaging personality.
  • Experience working within a collegiate setting.
  • Experience with Colleague.
