Position Summary:
The HR Specialist is an entry-level position focused on enhancing the university’s talent acquisition efforts by supporting a business partner model for recruitment and onboarding. This role collaborates with the HR team to ensure seamless recruitment workflows and onboarding processes.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as a recruitment partner for non-Academic Affairs divisions, including the Office of the President, Fiscal Affairs, Operations, and Student Affairs.


Manage job postings, candidate screenings, interview scheduling, and offer letters in collaboration with hiring managers for non-Academic Affairs divisions.


Facilitate onboarding processes to ensure new hires have a positive transition into their roles.


Work closely with the HR Generalist to streamline the Electronic Personnel Action Form (EPAF) process for new hires and terminated employees and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures for EPAF submissions.

Collaborate with HR team members to optimize recruitment workflows and identify areas for improvement.

Provide general HR support as needed to ensure smooth operations across all HR functions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience


Position Qualifications:

 

Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a relevant discipline with a minimum of 1-3 years relevant experience in HR or a related field, such as recruitment, onboarding, or employee relations as a human resource.

Prior experience in human resources in an academic setting desired. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) is a plus but not required.


Skills and Competencies:


Strong interpersonal and communication skills.


Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.


Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS).


Knowledge of HR principles and best practices in recruitment and onboarding.


Understanding of Banner


Intermediate understanding of all aspects of human resources.

Proven skills in building and maintaining effective work relationships with all levels of the organization.

Must have a proven record of taking initiative and being proactive.


Excellent judgment, problem solving, customer service, diplomacy, and interpersonal skills.

Proven clear and effective written and verbal communication skills. Strong analytical skills.


Demonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and confidential matters with tact and discretion and sustain ethical workplace practices.

Experience with Banner EPAFs or similar HR processes is advantageous.


Work/Physical Environment:

This position is primarily office-based with occasional travel for recruitment events, meetings, or training. Office environment with moderate noise levels. Regular use of a computer, phone, and other office equipment, requiring prolonged periods of sitting and typing. Occasional lifting or carrying of materials (up to 25 pounds) such as files, brochures, or recruitment materials. Flexibility in work hours may be required during peak recruitment seasons or for special projects or events.
