The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Cloud Services Engineer. QuidelOrtho is expanding its Cloud Services practice and is seeking engineers with AWS experience. The Cloud Services Engineer will be working in a mixed Cloud, DevOps environment. A strong technical background working with virtual machines, Identity/Directory management, and Infrastructure as Code solutions like CloudFormation is required. The ideal candidate possesses a keen interest in new technologies and will have an innovative mindset. They require a strong interest in evolving services and understand the implications of updates and new features of those products. They should be able to analyze how cloud services can integrate with and improve existing automated systems and manual processes.

As part of the Cloud Services team, the candidate will work with data scientists, infrastructure engineers, and application developers to deliver and maintain internal enterprise solutions, and external business applications. This position will be fully remote.

The Responsibilities

  • Integration and Automation (Primary focus). The Cloud Services Engineer will integrate on-prem and cloud resources to automate existing and new processes. They will be responsible for the implementation of new services, and continued development as new requirements and features are identified. The candidate will work closely with Development teams using DevOps practices to deliver infrastructure and provide support for active projects.
  • Deployment and maintenance. Configuration and support of redundant, scalable, and highly available solutions. Administer, and support Back-up/DR solutions for IaaS resources. The Cloud Services Engineer will be responsible for management and upgrade of Operating systems in the Cloud environments and ensure that they are working correctly.
  • Security and review. The Cloud Services Engineer will identify and adhere to all necessary security best practice and compliance requirements in the cloud services environment. They should create and maintain all relevant documentation for the services they support. They will implement cost-effective cloud-based systems that will fulfill the technical requirements of the organization.
  • Skill building and training. The Cloud Services Engineer will constantly be learning about new cloud offerings and technology. Keeping up to date with new technologies and services and sharing that knowledge internally.
  • Maintaining, testing and implementing disaster recovery procedures.
  • Recommend process and architecture improvements.
  • Multi-cloud connectivity, and support recommendations.
  • Travel could occur with site & team visits - most likely less than 3%.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • AWS: 6 years of experience required.
  • AWS Certification (Highly desired).
  • Microsoft Azure experience and/or certification highly desired.
  • Minimum Experience with the following:
  • - Comprehensive experience using IAC tools - CloudFormation.
  • - AWS expertise will include these services and their components: IAM, VPC, EC2, S3, SSM, SSO, Cognito, CloudFront, Route53.
  • - Microsoft Windows Server/Linux Server administration.
  • - Microsoft Azure Active Directory administration.
  • - Programing/scripting - PowerShell, Python.
  • - Networking concepts and protocols like TCP/IP, CIDR, Routing, and DNS.
  • Experience that sets you apart:
  • - Strong technical expertise within a DevOps environment.
  • - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines.
  • - Microsoft Office 365 - configuration/administration.
  • - Microsoft Endpoint Manager.
  • - Microservice solutions- Lambda, SQS, Functions/Event Hub.
  • - Virtual Desktop/App Infrastructure.
  • - Docker/Kubernetes.
  • - Development background.
  • Certifications:
  • - AWS Certified Solutions Architect Associate*
  • - Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate*
  • - Cisco Certified Network Associate*

The Key Working Relationships

Internal: Working primarily with Global Information Technology and departmental cross functional teams - Research & Development, Marketing, Commercial (Sales), Customer Service, etc.

External: Microsoft, Amazon, and other third party support organizations.

Key Supervisory Responsibilities

Makes hiring recommendations, Trains employee, Review work quality and quantity of others, and Recommends budget amount

Salary Transparency

Salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including: education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on that facts and circumstances of each case. Salary range for this position is $89,500 to $161,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
