POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Summary: The Interim Executive Director reports to the Board of Directors and has overall strategic and operational responsibility for RICS programs, volunteers and staff, budget, and implementation of RICS’ mission and strategic goals. Consistent with RICS' mission, the Interim Executive Director must be committed to empowering refugees and immigrants and their communities.

Essential Functions
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each of the essential responsibilities listed below:

Financial Management

· Responsible for financial management that includes budget, financial forecast, and fiscal oversight.

· Practice sound fiscal management by operating within the approved budget and optimizing resource utilization.

· Maintain records of all financial transactions; serve as primary contact for CPA; design financial reports’ content and format with CPA; provide CPA with monthly financial records; ensure CPA timely submits all required IRS filings.

· Share quarterly financial report with board of directors.

· Mitigate/manage significant risks as appropriate.

· Collect program data and provide grant-funded project reports to State and foundation funding agencies.

· Create and manage development records.

Agency Administration

· Request, review, and approve contracts for L&I, D&O, Accident, General Liability, Driver,
Event, and any other necessary insurance.

· Hire, retain, and supervise qualified staff.

· Procure goods and services for RICS and its programs/projects using universally accepted methods for solicitation, contract management, asset management, and best value for money.

· Submit Department of Licensing, Department of Revenue and Employment Security tax payments as directed by CPA.

· Attend monthly Board meetings and any Board Committee meetings.

· Maintain clear written and oral communication with members of the Board of Directors.

· Provide timely and accurate information necessary for effective Board functioning.

Program Development, Implementation, and Evaluation

· Maintain productive relationships with local nonprofit and other organizations and government agencies, particularly those working with refugees and immigrants.

· Maintain progress on programs, events and projects.

· Assign or delegate program work to staff or volunteers as appropriate.

· Conduct regular staff meetings to facilitate efficient workflow and effective collaboration.

· Create an inclusive and productive work environment.

Knowledge & Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must meet the minimum qualifications listed below. These qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform this job:

· Excellent budget management skills in budget preparation, analysis, decision-making and reporting.

· Demonstrated transparency in ethical leadership and decision-making skills.

· Established excellence in oral and written communication (including public speaking, social media, advocacy).

· Excellent organizational management and leadership abilities.

· Project management and/or event planning skills.

· Demonstrated creative problem-solving abilities.

· Sensitivity to diversity in all its forms—e.g. culture, gender, race, age, nationality, religion.

· Effective in building strong relationships with clients focusing on results and impact for clients.

· Openness to change and ability to manage complexity.

· Proven ability to promote effective teams.

· Responds positively to feedback.

· Intermediate level computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, G-Suite) other cloud-based services, and social media expertise.

Education & Experience:

  • 4-year degree in Social Work, Nonprofit/Organizational, Administration/Management, Business, Political Science, Sociology, Psychology or related field required.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Two years' experience working with refugees and/or immigrants.
  • Two years' experience in nonprofit management or communications.

· A certificate in leadership studies or similar continuing education program would stand in for one year of experience working in a nonprofit.

Physical Requirements:

· : sit, stand, climb, walk, lift 40 lbs., pull/push 20 lbs., carry 20 lbs., grasp, reach, stoop/crouch, crawl, talk, hear, taste, or smell.

· Essential functions require sufficient physical ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time and operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine motor coordination including use of a computer keyboard.

NOTE: RICS retains the discretion to add to or change the duties of the position at any time.

Monthly Salary: $5,400-5,800 (prorated for partial months worked)
Workweek: 40 hours
Benefits: Eligible for health insurance or a $200 monthly health stipend
Paid Time Off: Accrual of 8 hours/month vacation time; accrual of 4.67 hours/ month sick time Holidays: Memorial Day – 5/27/24, the Monday following World Refugee Day - 6/17/24, Independence Day - 7/4/24)

Employment dates: Interim executive director from 4/22/24-9/2/24 (or as otherwise negotiated)

**Interim Executive Director may have opportunity to transition to full-time permanent position supporting development and communications following the completion of temporary role. The salary and benefits of the position would be negotiated separately from the Temporary Executive Director role.**

Job Types: Full-time, Temporary

Pay: $5,400.00 - $5,800.00 per month
