Billing QA Specialist

General Job Description

Reviews medical records, charts, and other data to for quality assurance, particularly to ensure correct billing processes are followed.

Job Roles

* Assists with data entry and other clerical support tasks, as necessary.

* Assists with designing and refining quality assurance processes and systems, focusing on reconciling billings and ensuring electronic medical records/charts contain appropriate, timely data.

* Follows up on billing corrective action steps.

* Matches billing notations in charts and on logs; reconciles with data entered; verifies for accuracy and completeness.

* Performs other duties as assigned.

* Periodically reviews charts for critical service timelines for compliance; report results to Program Coordinators, staff, and leadership.

* Reports on error information to staff and leadership for follow-up steps.

For Elementary and Youth Program Support ONLY:

* Assists with designing and refining quality assurance processes and systems, focusing on reconciling billings for children's mental health services recorded in charts, on logs, and in the County's data system and ensuring electronic medical records/charts contain appropriate, timely data.

* Matches billing notations in charts and on logs; reconciles with data entered into County system; verifies for accuracy and completeness.


Education/Certifications/Licenses/Registrations

* 1 year of basic accounting or auditing experience preferred.

* 1 year of computer and/or data entry experience preferred.

* High school diploma or GED equivalent required.

* Or equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the skills, knowledge and ability to perform the essential job duties, and which meets any required state or federal certification requirements.


Experience/Specialized skills (including Language)

* Ability to work well in both a team-based environment and independently.

* Basic knowledge of medical terminology and departmental services.

* Basic knowledge of the principals and practices of accounting and auditing.

* Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

* Intermediate organizational skills, attention to detail, time-management skills, and strong motivation to meet deadlines and achieve goals.

* Intermediate skills in computer applications and software, including MS Office.

* Intermediate written and verbal communication skills.

* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

If you are hired at Family Health Centers of San Diego, your final base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, jurisdictional requirements, skills, education, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is what we reasonably expect to pay for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth.
