Your personal sphere of play:
Your future position is at the Institute of Biological Chemistry, AG Becker. The institute provides an excellent environment for research at the interface of synthetic organic chemistry, molecular biology, biophysics and biomedicine. We combine chemical approaches, such as the synthesis of modified amino acids with solid phase peptide synthesis (SPPS) and biotechnological methods to address scientific challenges in the areas of protein biochemistry, neuropeptide research, biomaterials and medicines. You continuously strive for scientific and personal development and look for a place to carry out internationally.
As part of our divers team, you will be involved in the synthesis of amino acid building block for peptide and protein synthesis as well as in generating modified proteins. Analysis of all synthesized compounds as biochemical as well as biophysical characterization and application in functional assays of the peptides/proteins is expected. You are also expected to participate in teaching and administration, in publishing and attending conferences and in acquiring third-party funding.
The position is to be filled for the duration of an employee's absence. An extension beyond this period is possible.
Your future tasks:
Active participation in research, teaching & administration, which means:
- You are involved in research projects and scientific studies in the area of peptide and protein chemistry.
- You publish internationally and give lectures.
- You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.
- You prepare and complete a publication-ready habilitation.
- You hold courses independently within the scope of the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement.
- You supervise your students and take over examination activities.
- You participate in evaluation measures and in quality assurance.
- You take on administrative tasks in research, teaching and administration.
This is part of your personality:
- Completed doctoral/PhD studies in the field of Chemistry, Biological Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Knowledge/experience in the field of peptide and protein chemistry
- Outstanding dissertation
- Research competence and initiative proven through international publications in peer-relevant media
- Experience in research management and in leading project staff
- Didactic skills / experience in e-learning
- IT skills
- Ability to work in a team
- Excellent knowledge of English (C1)
- High intrinsic motivation for research
