Position Summary/Purpose of Position:

The Assistant Dean of Engineering Student Affairs is a lead member of the Engineering Student Affairs & Academic Success Programs (ESA & ASP) unit which focuses on college-wide services to our students. Specifically, the unit is comprised of 9 groups: Undergraduate Recruitment and Scholarship Programs (URSP), Engineering Academic Services (EAS), Engineering Career Services (ECS), Office of Global Engineering Leadership (OGEL), Center for Minorities in Science and Engineering (CMSE), Women in Engineering (WIE), Keystone Program (KEY), Science Technology and Society (STS) and the Clark Scholars Program Network (CSPN). Reporting to the Associate Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, the Assistant Dean will have primary responsibilities in three areas: 1) development and implementation of strategic initiatives to serve changing student needs, 2) manage development of policy and equitable resourcing Engineering affiliated student organizations, student affairs risk management, student well-being, and student participation in self-governance, and 3) leadership of student affairs units within ESA & ASP group.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Master’s degree in related field.

Experience:
  • 12+ years of professional work experience in Higher Education administration or similar field.
  • 5+ years of supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
  • Strong project management skills and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.

Preferences:

  • Master’s degree focused in Higher Education or STEM field
  • Demonstrated ability to create and implement new programs to successfully serve student needs and interests.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze the large perspective view of a problem and think strategically to produce a constructive response.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups/populations;
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems creatively in a fast-paced, multi-faceted environment;
  • Demonstrated understanding of the role of academic services;

Additional Information:

Salary starting in the mid-$150,000 range.

  • Mostly sedentary work performed in an office environment requiring the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards for extended times.
  • Ability to review, prepare, and analyze data and figures, transcribe, and engage extensive reading of materials and computer screens.
