Early Alert, Student Success & Faculty Liaison Program Manager

This multi-faceted role directly impacts the goals for retention and graduation outcomes at MSU by managing and providing strategic downstream leadership for the Early Alert program, Q1-Q2.5 coordination and other retention focused programming. This role proactively manages identifying students who are at risk and under-performing in their academic pursuits, from time of notification for Early Alert and identifies and formulates appropriate intervention support that is aligned with meeting both expressed and latent needs, and ensures current operational procedures are maintained to provide timely referrals and programmatic efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities
In this position, the successful candidate will:
    • Work collaboratively with AYCSS staff and administration to develop and employ new methods to advance programs, with the goal of improving MSU’s retention and graduation rates.
    • Manage logistics for retention specific programming efforts, including Early Alert and other key strategic initiatives.
    • Conducting one-on-one and group appointments with students, reviewing appropriate learning strategies for students referred to the Allen Yarnell Center for Student Success via referrals through the Early Alert program, Residence Life, CARE team, Admissions, AYCSS initiatives, as well as self-referral by students who know they need help with pursuing their degree.
    • Develop strategic outreach efforts though a needs assessment of the referred student to ensure AYCSS is holistically serving the referred students.
    • Develop mechanisms to track outcomes of all students – and alerting appropriate campus partners for students who are in need of immediate support services.
    • Build relationships and communication channels with faculty, advisors, staff to advance the EAL program.
    • Strategically ensure students ‘at risk’ are identified through the Early Alert systems and work in conjunction with the Data Analyst to identify additional ‘at risk’ students and develop long-term and just-in-time intervention strategies to support the initiative.
    • Work closely and responsively with faculty, advisors and staff to coordinate efforts to assist students who have been referred via Early Alert and provide them appropriate feedback regarding the status of their student referrals.
    • Coordinate with the Return-to-Learn program in order to support the return of students who have stopped out (withdrawal, academic suspension, etc.) to the institution.

 


Work in conjunction with various campus constituents on initiatives and partnerships, including but not limited to:
  • Owns and manages high-level programmatic and daily calendars in support of Center-wide efforts, and oversees communication efforts for program specific events and daily operations.
  • Serve as point person to Residence Life for center-wide management and logistics.
  • Maintain a flexible schedule to host events and interact with students during evening and occasional weekend hours with advance notice.
  • Ensure service excellence, soundness of practice and program metrics are achieved, client notes recorded, promote professional learning communities, and staff training and development, to improve student outcomes.

Required Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Demonstrated professional experience with progressive managerial responsibility (project management preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience in program development, management, implementation and delivery assessment.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy with a strong commitment to quality and delivery with a high degree of professionalism.
  • Demonstrated technical competence using personal computers and various software such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software & relational databases with a willingness to learn additional department and MSU specific software and programs.
  • Possess an understanding of, and experience with, managing databases, analytics, and using quantitative metrics to baseline projects.

Preferred Qualifications – Experience, Education, Knowledge & Skills
  • Master’s Degree in related field.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple initiatives while working with various constituents bringing project to a successful completion.
  • Demonstrated experience planning events or programs with multiple constrains and considerations that must be thought-through or planned.
  • Possess knowledge of the higher education system, trends and related services.

Position Special Requirements/Additional Information
