IDS is seeking an experienced business development leader, with a proven track record of leading and closing opportunities, to provide strategic leadership direction for the expansion and growth across the Department of the Navy and United States Marine Corps organizations.

The Director for Navy/USMC Growth will be the leading force in growing client relationships and business across our Navy/USMC account. The Director will develop and execute business strategies to expand IDS's presence in targeted Navy and USMC organizations. Reporting to the Chief Growth Officer, the Director will be responsible for building, managing, and maintaining a healthy pipeline, leading large/strategic pursuits, solution development, teaming relationships, and responding to customer solicitations for new business.

This position will be located in one of our office geographic locations of Charleston, SC; San Diego, CA; Norfolk, VA; or Washington DC metro.

Travel is anticipated up to 50% to meet with key customers and teaming partners and attending industry events and corporate meetings, when required.

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Keeps abreast of overall business trends, particularly the current business climate to include changes in customer budgets, policies and priorities.
  • Defines and executes long-term business development and capture strategies within Account to grow the opportunity pipeline, to include existing as well as adjacent markets/customers, through diligent and timely identification/qualification of new business opportunities.
  • Develops and manages a multiyear $300M pipeline.
  • Lead and participate in the identification, qualification and pursuit of strategic business opportunities targeting $50M+ in contract value.
  • Works with marketing to develop marketing campaigns to establish and cultivate long-term relationships with key clients.
  • Seek opportunities to strengthen client relationships and shape customer requirements, translate tacit customer needs into actionable features, drive differentiation in IDS' solutions and help create a compelling value proposition.
  • Identifies potential clients within IDS core capability areas and develops sales strategy.
  • Understands and responds to potential clients' needs and objectives by proactively engaging and educating potential/existing customers on IDS capabilities.
  • Drives collaboration with IDS Delivery teams and the Digital Innovation Center of Excellence team to coordinate on capability, technology, and solutions for best-in-class solutions and enhanced PWIN.
  • Facilitates development and submission of white papers and RFI responses to proactively shape strategic opportunities.
  • Actively participate in capture activities, to include opportunity gate reviews, black hat sessions, collaboration and workshop sessions, proposal reviews and business case development.
  • Conduct customer visits and articulate current and emerging customer needs and requirements.
  • Collaborates with the Capture team to mature opportunities for maximizing PWIN by conducting Gate Reviews following the IDS Capture Processes, and at times, functioning as the Capture Manager.
  • Provides leadership and guidance to proposal team from inception to completion, and interfaces with the program teams and other account directors/executives.
  • Communicate and translate business strategy and customer requirements to solution architects and chief scientists in support of technical approach/solution development.
  • Supports the development of the pricing structure, as well as coordinates with Contracts on other contract terms and conditions.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and typically +10 years of diversified experience, primarily within the business development realm of a large, technology company, is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of US Navy/USMC through prior military, civilian, or contractor experience.
  • Proven track record of selling and delivering technical services to the Navy/USMC.
  • Must thrive in an environment with responsibility for the management and execution of the full BD life-cycle process across multiple simultaneous pursuits and proposalsEstablished government and industry relationships and understanding of the Navy/USMC competitive landscape and various acquisition processes to include OTAs.
  • A thorough understanding of market development, capture process, proposal pricing, contract terminology, negotiations with potential clients.
  • Knowledge of Government contracting and current acquisition trends and customer buying behaviors.
  • Ability to conceptualize a vision for winning, to develop strategy and BD capture plans that implement the vision, and, to translate the strategy into win themes.
  • Strategic thinker with long term business growth focus.
  • Demonstrated successes in leading $50M+ opportunities from identification through proposal submissions in the Navy/USMC services business.
  • Ability to identify key growth areas and develop new business aligned with the company's growth strategy.
  • Experience developing overall win strategy, shaping deals with customers, developing team strategies, understanding pricing and assisting in developing winning price.
  • Ability to represent the Company favorably, to develop new clients and new industry partners.
  • Domain knowledge in one or more of the following domains as it relates to the Navy/USMC is desirable: digital modernization, data management, automation, digital transformation, and program management/financial management.
  • Must possess strong written and oral communication skills, including excellent presentation skills.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain or currently possess a DoD security clearance.

Salary: $150,000+ to align with education and experience
