Job Summary

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan-Dearborn is inviting applications for an Lecturer I for Winter Term 2025 to teach ENGR 250 Principles of Eng Materials. The course will be taught in person at the Dearborn campus and meet on Mondays and Wednesdays at 9-9:50am. 

This is expected to be a 25% appointment.

Course Description
An introductory course in engineering materials. Particular emphasis is given to the correlation of material properties and internal structures; structure of materials; stress- strain curves; temperature effects; phase diagrams; ferrous and non-ferrous alloys; ceramics; polymers; composites; electrical, magnetic, and optical properties; corrosion and failure. Two-hour lectures and two one-hour recitations.

Required Qualifications*

A successful candidate will have expertise in a respective area. Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field is required. A PhD degree will be considered as a plus. Relevant teaching experience and evidence of teaching excellence are desirable. Candidates will be evaluated based on submitted CV, teaching evaluations, and relevant recommendations.
