Job Description:
Westchester Community College's Business Department seeks applications for a full-time, tenure-track Instructor capable of teaching fashion design courses at the foundational level through product development and complete garment design with an emphasis on technical design. The Instructor will be expected to teach:
- Apparel & Design I & II
- Fashion Illustration Technique I and II
- History of Fashion
- Flat Pattern Making I and II
- Fashion Product Development
- Fashion Design Technology I and II
- Garment Construction
- Portfolio creation
In addition, Faculty are expected to assist students in the development of a fashion portfolio and manage and supervise an annual fashion show. Faculty are expected to be active members of the college community and be interested and motivated to assume departmental and campus-wide leadership roles in the future. Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: A Master's degree in Fine Arts or a related area and a minimum of one year of practical/teaching experience is required. Knowledge of pattern making, garment construction, textiles and the latest in design technology is essential. The candidate for this position should be an excellent communicator as well as possess experience as a coach and motivator for community college students.
All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and an understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice within the classroom.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Evidence of at least 5 years of teaching experience at the college level is strongly preferred. Knowledge and experience teaching the above listed subjects strongly preferred.

POSITION EFFECTIVE: Fall 2025
SALARY & BENEFITS: The starting salary is $75,170. Additional compensation with seniority steps maximize at a salary of $88,234. Benefits include comprehensive health coverage, a choice of defined benefit and/or defined contribution pension plan, generous leave benefits, and access to tax sheltered annuities and a deferred compensation plan.
