This position will work a hybrid schedule which includes a combination of working both onsite at Campus and remote.
The Division of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery is committed to providing the highest quality surgical and interventional care for the broad spectrum of peripheral arterial and venous diseases. The Complex Aortic Disease treatment program offers the latest minimally invasive treatment for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) and aortic dissections, including fenestrated and branched endovascular repairs.
We offer both open and minimally invasive approaches to carotid artery stenosis and stroke (endarterectomy, carotid stent and transcervical carotid artery revascularization, TCAR), peripheral arterial diseases and limb ischemia (bypass and peripheral angioplasty or stenting), and peripheral venous disease (saphenous vein ablation and central vein recanalization). We also are committed to our dialysis center access practice and serve as a referral center for advanced hemodialysis needs.
Active clinical trials bring cutting-edge technology to our patients, including BEST endovascular vs. open treatment of peripheral artery disease (NIH trial) and polymer based treatment of AAA disease with NELLIX and ALTO FDA-sponsored investigational device trials. Weare dedicated to our mission to train the next generation of vascular surgeons, with mentorship of medical students and residents, and the training of our two vascular surgery fellows.
Vascular & Endovascular Surgery Residency and Fellowship Program Under the general supervision of the Division Administrator and the Residency Training Program Director, the Residency and Fellowship Coordinator is responsible for implementing and overseeing recruitment, ranking, scheduling, curriculum planning and development, evaluations, certifications and graduation. Responsible for all personnel and payroll actions, management of numerous databases and ensuring that residents are informed of licensing requirements, enrollment procedures, registration and application deadlines for in-training exams, the American Board of Surgery exam, etc. Manages and prepares all documents for the UCSD Internal Review, ACGME Site Visit and semi-annual and annual Program Director meetings. Monitors budgets, processes program related charges, and communicates significant changes as they occur to division administration. Prepares internal reports for program management.
Systems Administration Manages program files and data, which include individual learner files as well as program accreditation documentation in accordance with relevant regulatory and University Policies. Responsible for all components of MedHub, a hospital wide Residency Management System that includes complex schedules, evaluations, duty hours, etc. Design and generate monthly and ad hoc reports for statistical and administrative use. Responsible for managing the annual recruitment process using the Electronic Residency Application Service and the National Matching Program. Manages the Accreditation Data System (ACGME) to prepare and manage accreditation reviews and support compliance.
Fiscal Administration In coordination with division administration, manages the program budget to include reconciliation, travel, purchase orders, recharges and reimbursements. Manage the annual Resident Education Stipend. Serve as liaison between the Office of Graduate Education, UCSD residents, faculty, affiliated institutions, community physicians, and other agencies. Act on behalf of Director as needed.
Curriculum Development and Program ExpansionResponsible for analyzing current educational resources, practices, and policies with respect to the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Residency and the Fellowship program to make recommendations, as appropriate, to comply with ACGME guidelines, site visit requirements, and expand and develop curriculum. Implements policies and procedures relevant to the educational program to maintain compliance with accreditation standards, University policy, and other regulatory requirements. Supports accreditation by analyzing programs to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and other regulatory requirements. Serves as point person for learners, which include prospective health professions education program candidates; current health professions education learners; and all other stakeholders. Answers questions and disseminates program information. Responsible for managing the Grand Rounds Conference, Residency Review Committee (RRC). Serves as principle liaison between leadership and faculty, contractors, organizers, learners, and administrators with regards to all facets of the logistical operations support of the health professions education program. Analyzes a wide range of educational issues and applies project management principles and practices to achieve results in academic setting. Works with teams of professionals and key stakeholders to deliver effective results. Responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating all meetings, events, and conferences for the residency and fellowship programs.
Applies knowledge about curriculum, requirements and educational activities to coordinate professional health education programs. Coordinates and maintains program operations, which may include teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSSeven (7) years of relatable experience, education/training or a Bachelor's degree in related area plus three(3) years of relevant experience/training.
Thorough knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. Solid knowledge of health professions education program requirements. Thorough knowledge of health professions education industry.
Thorough knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement processes and systems. Thorough knowledge of the administrative and operational implications in a program.
Demonstrated experience and documented excellence in oral and written communications skills; includes active listening and critical thinking.
Strong interpersonal skills. Actively cooperates and supports the work of others. Ability to work productively with anyone regardless of background. Empathetic and aware of impact on others. Strong problem solving skills to assist learners and resolve issues.

Thorough knowledge of educational software and platforms. Demonstrated ability to analyze and seek solutions to enhance the user experience.
Thorough knowledge of data management, documentation methods used in investigating and presenting findings about the program. Skills include statistical analysis of data across databases and systems.
Knowledge of residency training and fellowship program administration and requirements (ie Medical Staff Administration, Office of Student Affairs, VA Medical Center), including Residency Review Committee requirements.
Full knowledge of all American Council on Graduate Medical Education & Accreditation Council.

Pay Transparency Act
Annual Full Pay Range: $69,500 - $123,500 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $33.29 - $59.15
